How do I Start?
Calling to start counseling can take courage. While similar to seeing a new medical doctor, starting with a new psychoetherapy is slightly different. Here’s a general how-to plan.

Step 1
Please call me and leave a voicemail with your name, reasons you’re wanting to start services at this time, insurance information, contact information, as well as preferred times to contact you. I do my best to return intake calls in timely manner.

Step 2
We will then chat briefly on the phone to determine if I am a good fit for what’s bring you in and we can schedule from there. I may provide you with referral information to another provider or agency if the scope of your needs cannot be adequately supported by me in private practice. You deserve to get what you need whether it’s with me or another provider, and I am unable to offer wrap around services such as skill building, psychiatric medication management, nor intensive community treatment services at this time. Please schedule for your assessment to last 1 hour 30 minutes. Ongoing counseling sessions typically last 45 to 60 minutes.

Step 3
Please download and complete intake forms available on the FORMS tab of the website and bring them in with you for that first session. If you would prefer I mail them to you, please provide your mailing address when we schedule, so I can get them off to you prior to the assessment. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me so I can clear up any topics that are confusing.

Step 4
These first appointments are often a time that I ask about general areas of your life and we might not get to active therapeutic work in this session, The reason for this is so that I can: have a better understanding of your current relationships, the current symptoms and scope of the difficulties bringing you in, and identify areas of strengths as we develop a treatment plan together.
